RealHockey – Hockey Simulators

RealHockey was designed to provide the most realistic and advanced hockey simulation experience possible.  Visual Sports Systems has worked with NHL players to create a unique combination of video and animation processes that simulate real player and goaltender movements.  Players can test their shots against life-size goaltenders on life-size nets in a simulated environment.  Players can also test their shots on corner targets, and be tested on their speed, accuracy and reflex time.

True Shooter vs. Goaltender Simulation

The player/user is the shooter in a one-on-one scenario against the goaltender. The shooter shoots on a ‘live’ goaltender. The object of this hockey simulation is to score as many goals on in the session as possible. The more accurate and higher the velocity of the shot, the more likely the player/user is to score.

Real Size Net and Goaltender

The projected image size of both the hockey simulator goaltender and the goaltender's net are real size. That is, the hockey simulator net measures six feet long by four feet high. As well the hockey simulator goaltender is real size and appears just as he would if they were standing in front of you on a hockey rink. This sets the stage for real shooting practice.

Realistic and Varied Hockey Simulator Goaltender Reactions

Using a unique combination of video and animation processes, the hockey simulator goaltender reacts just as real goaltender would with 64 (scalable to 256) unique save movements. Each save movement is unique based on the location and type of shot.

Target Shooting Software

The RealHockey hockey simulator software also comes with random target shooting module. This tests the player/user's ability to hit different targets within the net.

Hockey Simulator Data Reporting and Analysis

During the player/user session, the hockey simulator system's scoreboard displays the following data:

-Number of shots taken
-The velocity of each shot
-The average velocity of all shots
-The number of goals scored or targets hit
-An overall score
After the hockey simulation session, a report summary is displayed that includes:

-A graphic display of all the shots taken, their location, and their result (goal or no goal).
-A summary scoreboard as above for both the "Shooting on the goaltender" session and "Target shooting" session if applicable.
The RealHockey Training Database Features also records team and player information, tracks player performance over time, and reports on player performance trends with a number of statistical and graphical outputs.
